3 from me
Hello - and Happy Monday,
I hope this email finds you well.
Here’s 3 from me…
1.
Wellbeing is not an add on. It isn’t a set of nice things we do for staff. It isn’t something leaders can delegate. It permeates through every aspect of school life.
2.
Overall organisational wellbeing and school culture is determined by the behaviour of the leaders. Staff follow and copy the behaviour of the leaders. The way leaders behave and speak around the school sets the expectation to staff. How do our words, actions and expectations support staff members to balance the emotional, social, economic and practical challenges they face on a day to day basis?
3.
Words and phrases are more powerful than we realise. The words leaders choose to use around the school, and members of its community, sets the mood and culture of the school. The words people hear from leaders will be echoed and multiplied across the school. E.g. When we say an aspect of the school day is boring, or we say something we all have to do is unimportant. What message are we transmitting to staff?
Wellbeing. You want to get it right? It starts with the behaviour of the leaders.

Until next time.
