Hello - and Happy Monday,
Here’s 3 from me.
1.
Whether half term is soon upon you or not - it is worth taking some time to step back and reflect on this first half term of the academic year. I have had many people tell me about how much more difficult the start to this term has been than normal. This is for a variety of reasons - but mainly because there has been such a great expectation to simply return to ‘normal’. Take a moment to appreciate how far you, your staff and your school have come in the last two years.
2.
Your entire school community (heck, the entire world also!) has been through a sustained period of shared grief and trauma. In fact, many people for the first time in their entire life have come face to face with their own mortality through either contracting the virus or simply just living in a world where the virus exists. You have navigated it as best as you can. Every decision you have made was the right decision at the time of making it. If somebody different had led the same life as you with the same experiences and memories - they would have made the same decision as well. Be at ease with yourself.
3.
We’re reaching the time of year when your colleagues need you - and you need them. Remember to be kind, to listen to understand, to say thank you, to ask someone if you can help, to ask for help if you need it, to be patient, and to remember that everyone else is doing their best.

No newsletter next week. I’m going to the seaside. I’m unplugging. I’m switching off. I’m spending time with my family. I hope, with whatever you do, that you have a good break as well.
Until next time.
Best wishes,
