Hello - and Happy Tuesday,
Do you want to create and lead a culture of wellbeing in school?
It starts with culture. Culture is a set of living relationships. How do you build those relationships?
Daily behaviours are key.
Belonging cues
What do you do every day to make people feel part of a team?
What do you do every day to remind people they are part of something bigger?
Embrace catchphrases which act as short sharp nudges of the direction we all want to go. E.g. At this school we SMELL...
-Shaping
-Minds
-Every Day to
-Love
-Learning.
Impact
What messages do you reinforce every day to remind people of the difference they make?
How do you help staff see the aggregated impact their daily actions have on children?
How do you help staff understand why they do the things the do?
Vulnerability
How do you communicate to staff every day that you need them to help you create the change and be the difference you all want?
How do you provide psychological safety every day so staff can approach you and never feel let down by the school?
How often do you ask “What can I do to make YOU more effective?”
Strategic direction
In order to achieve a goal, you have to define the goal. List you priorities so their achievement defines your school identity.
The best organisations have just a handful of priorities - with how they treat each other placed at the top.
The best organisations also know building and sustaining their staff team is the keystone for success in all other areas.
Building your in-staff relationships is the most vital ingredient for long term success.
How often do you refer to your priorities on a daily basis?
How do you remind staff every day of the culture building activities we are engaging in?
How do you remind staff on a daily basis that you need them and you have a future together?
-
Until next time.
Best wishes,
